IGF training for seafarers

SIMAC Training and Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering now offer IGF training for seafarers across Denmark.

The maritime sector is in the midst of a major green transition, where fuels such as LNG, methanol, and in the future ammonia and hydrogen are becoming essential. These fuels require specialized competencies and certification to ensure safe operation, environmental protection, and compliance with international regulations.

About the courses

• IGF Basic: A 3-day course for ratings and officers who will work on ships using low-flashpoint fuels. Delivered by both SIMAC Training and AAMS.

• IGF Advanced: An extended course for officers responsible for handling and operations. Initially delivered by AAMS, with SIMAC Training offering the course from 2026.

• The courses are offered in both Eastern and Western Denmark to ensure broad accessibility.

Price

• Price for IGF Basic: DKK 9,350.00 excl. VAT

• Price for IGF Advanced: DKK 9,350.00 excl. VAT

• Price for combined Basic and Advanced (5-day course): DKK 18,700.00 excl. VAT

Note: This price is offered as part of a foundation-supported project period ending in summer 2027. After that, the price is expected to double.

Funding

• Shipping company employees: 50% discount on the course fee (company price: DKK 4,675 excl. VAT for single courses, or DKK 9,350 excl. VAT for the combined course)

• Individual seafarers without an employment contract: 75% discount on the course fee (private price: DKK 2,337.50 excl. VAT for single courses, or DKK 4,675 excl. VAT for the combined course)

Note: The funding is part of a foundation-supported project period ending in summer 2027. After that, the funding is expected to be discontinued.

Allocation of places

Places are reserved for both shipping company employees and individual applicants, and we aim to ensure broad representation from different shipping companies so that both large and small companies benefit from the program.
